This is just a small list of all the activities that are available in the region surrounding Alderson-Broaddus College and the Philippi, WV area.

Just a short drive from campus, outdoor enthusiast can enjoy an endless assortment of outdoor sports. From white water rafting on the Tygart River or taking a scenic mountain bike ride just minutes from campus to swooshing down the slopes at Snow Shoe or Canaan Valley just an hour or two away, the region offers it all.

Not into the outdoor scene? Shoppers can enjoy major retail opportunities just thirty minutes away in Clarksburg/Bridgeport, WV. And for Wal-Mart lovers – you can find a Wal-Mart within 30 minutes in any major direction of campus. The downtown area of Philippi also offers many specialty shops from which to choose.

Some may want to just take a break from their studies to relax in the serene surroundings. Just twenty minutes from campus is Audra State Park. There you can walk on tranquil nature trails or just enjoy a picnic with friends. Even though our campus is in a great environment, it’s nice to get away and experience the surrounding area and take a break.

Take in a movie. The area offers several cinemas about 30 to 45 minutes from campus in Bridgeport, Elkins, and Buckhannon. You can also experience the drive-in theatre. Located in Grafton, the Grafton Drive-In is a popular spot to catch an early fall, summer, and late spring movie event.
